Family Mediation

At Moving Forward you will feel:

Heard

Respected

Safe

Confident that you will come to an agreement that ALL parties are comfortable with.

The Benefits of Mediation include:

Save Time

Often couples can resolve their disputes with a few short sessions.

Save Money

The cost of family mediation is far less than resolving your disputes through multiple visits to your lawyer.

Avoid the risk of a trial

YOU decide what is right for your family.

You are the one that is in control and in charge of your decisions...not a mediator, or a lawyer or a judge.

We offer the flexibility of meeting with you In Person or Online via Zoom

Mediation Can Help Settle

Being a neutral party, a mediator helps find common ground and assists you in designing solutions that fit your unique situation.

A mediator will ensure both parties are heard and will not impose their opinions on the other party.

Meditation sessions are most successful, and you are much more likely to reach an agreement when:

The children’s best interests are kept in the forefront.
When everyone is respectful and committed to the process.
You keep an open mind to all options and don’t get stuck on one possible outcome.

Mediation Can Help Settle:

Spousal Support

Parenting Plans

Decision Making Disputes

High Conflict Separations

Unique Challenges Facing LGBTQ2+ Families

Extended Family Disputes

How It Works

Step 1:  Initial consultation: This is a 30 minute complimentary session where we will listen to your story and discuss your situation and we explain the mediation process

Step 2:   A private interview each person to become familiar with your unique situation to understand what issues are important to you. We will discuss how to prepare for the mediation sessions.  – what paperwork to bring
Schedules ( for each child and parent)

Step 3:   Mediation.  We will meet online or in person to discuss your issues and come to an agreement.  This usually take three sessions.  But if more are needed, that can be arranged.

Step 4:   We strongly recommend you seek independent legal advise. (ILA) and have a lawyer review memorandum of understanding.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) – This document will be created for both of you.  It contains all of the agreements that have been settled during your mediation sessions.
Independent Legal Advice (ILA) - You can then bring your Memorandum of Understanding to a lawyer and it can then be part of your separation agreement.
This step is very important and we strongly advise you to seek independent legal advice
